Greetings of joy for a happy new year!

Above is an opportunity for service at Rays of Hope for Haiti on Saturday, Jan. 21.  Adults are required to attend/supervise with students if you are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity.

Registration is required, so if you want to support the cause let me know and I can register for you.  You can also probably go to the Rays of Hope for Haiti website and register there.  I have not checked that out yet.

January always presents itself as a new beginning.  We will be focussing on completing our second quarter of study and preparing for/taking semester exams.  We are also MAPS testing in these next two weeks.  Your students might find it helpful to sit down with you and map out some study/review time for exams beginning this week already.  More guidelines will be coming their way regarding exams during this week.

God bless your new year with much joy!

November 9, 2011 Update

Hello everyone,

It is way past time to update my blog!   My apologies!  Coming up this week/month:

1.  Grade 7 will be doing an hour of service cleaning St. Stephen Church pews on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 2:00   Students are asked to bring in buckets, rags and putty knives (for old gum:( )

2.  Peanut Butter and Jelly are still being collected in 7th grade for the parish Thanksgiving Food Baskets.  Thanks to all who have already contributed.

3..  Report Cards come home on Friday, Nov. 11…be on the lookout!

4.  Our Annual Thanksgiving Feast will be on Monday, Nov. 21 at 11:30.  Ask your student for a hard copy flyer, or access the flyer from your Jupiter Grades e-mail, or see information below.

WHAT:  Annual Middle School Thanksgiving Feast

WHEN:  Monday, November 21, 11:30 am

WHERE:  Family Center

HOW:  Each student brings his/her favorite dish from the family Thanksgiving meal.  The prepared dish should serve 8-10 (we only need small portions as there is always plenty of food!) All choices are welcome: mashed potatoes, cranberries, macaroni and cheese, applesauce, creamed onions, green beans, gravy, desserts.  We usually have plenty of desserts so please encourage your student to consider another option.

We will need cooked turkeys which should arrive about 11:00 am.   We usually need about 6-7 cooked turkeys.  It really helps if they are already carved.

We will eat at 11:30 am.  Students bring food with them in the morning.  Disposal serving dishes are best; crock pots are helpful for keeping things warm.   We have serving utensils here.  Please label all dishes.   We can warm some things in the oven before serving.  If you are able to do any of the following tasks, please e-mail Mrs. Kennedy.  You will be contacted after we have an idea about how these needs are being met.

  1. Provide a cooked turkey for the feast
  2. Provide a turkey for someone else to cook
  3. Serve at the feast
  4. Help supervise student clean-up and close kitchen
  5. Provide paper products:   We are serving 150 people
  6. STURDY  dinner paper plates
  7. Dessert size paper plates
  8. Napkins
  9. Cups
  10. Plastic service ware
  11. Provide Drinks

Giving Thanks for All Our Blessings

                            Mrs. Kennedy

Have a marvelous rest of the week/weekend:)

2.  Next Tuesday, Nov. 1….6th, 7th, and 8th graders will be walking to Aquinas College to participate in the Aquinas 125th anniversary Service Program.  Aquinas is sponsoring a “125,ooo Acts of Aquinas”  event that involves paying kind acts (service) forward and entering an account of your service online to spread the good news worldwide.  The kick-off program is for youth/students at Aquinas on Nov. 1.  We will be walking over there, participating in the program and eating lunch on campus.  Look for a permission slip soon.

Welcome to the Kennedy Class Blog

Welcome to the brand new Kennedy Class Blog.  This is my maiden voyage into a new technology  and I am excited to get started.  My main goal for this blog is to communicate class happenings/activities/homework for my homeroom, Gr. 7, and for my Soc. St. and Religion classes for grades 6, 7, 8.  In time, as I experiment, I  envision using it as a tool of communication/exchange with students as well.   Welcome aboard!
